Attorney Jean M. Brandt established her law practice in Cleveland, Ohio in 1989. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University.
As a trial lawyer Attorney Brandt handles both civil matters and criminal defense, she is licensed to practice in the State of Ohio as well as Federal Court. Her broad experience qualifies her to skillfully deal with diverse legal fields ranging from family law, housing, small business consultation, estate planning, personal bankruptcies, criminal defense work, personal injury and more.
Attorney Brandt is on the court assignment list to work as appointed counsel for parents and children with cases before the Juvenile Division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. She is also approved as a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem at the Juvenile Division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, conducting investigations on behalf of the court regarding matters involving abused and neglected children.
Throughout her career, Attorney Brandt has been an active community supporter of her hometown Cleveland, Ohio. Brandt served on the boards of Merrick House and Tremont West Development Corporation both located in the Tremont Neighborhood of Cleveland, the Cleveland Housing Network, and the Plain Press which is a community based newspaper serving the west side of Cleveland, where Jean served as treasurer and as president.
Well known as a dedicated supporter of regional arts, being a singer-songwriter herself, she operated Brandt Gallery from 1990 through 2015 in her storefront law office in the Tremont neighborhood. During those years her law office featured work by artists working and living in Northeast Ohio. In 1993, with the assistance of Sandra Rotkowski and Mikel Mahoney the monthly Tremont ArtWalk was founded, a community based arts event which occurred in Tremont from 1993 – 2015
